At startup, the bus coupler determines the module structure of the node to create the process image in PROFIBUS. To optimize addresses, I/O modules with bit widths less than 8 are grouped into one byte. It is also possible to disable I/O modules and change the node image in accordance with the connected signals without having to change the existing application. The diagnostic concept is based on identity and channel-related diagnostics in accordance with EN 50170. This eliminates the need to program modules to evaluate manufacturer-specific diagnostic data.
